A Collective Journey to Better Health

Last fall we relaunched our blog and began using our platform to support our patients in their quest for better health. For many, this means living without the complications of type 2 diabetes. The CDC reports that in 2015 there were 30.3 million people, or 9.4% of the population, with diabetes. Today there are an estimated 84.1 million people with prediabetes. These numbers are staggering. Fortunately, for many people the diagnosis of prediabetes or diabetes is reversible, hence our recent war on sugar, bad carbs and sugary sodas!    

Stop sugarAdded sugars are the root cause of type 2 diabetes. We have made it our mission to inform our patients about the addictive power of sugar and how to say no to sugary foods, snacks, beverages -- and even artificial sweeteners. Reading labels, eating healthy, exercising regularly and raising awareness is vital to reversing the diabetes epidemic. Many cities across the country are recognizing the problem and have begun to adopt a “sin tax” on sugar sweetened beverages (SSBs) to discourage consumption of those harmful beverages, which has proven to be very effective. We see this trend continuing nationally and even expanding to other consumables, as well as to manufacturers.

Go ahead… jump on the bandwagon and join us in our fight to reduce sugar consumption! 

  • Exercise.
  • Drink water.
  • Eliminate processed foods and eat “clean.” 

As a nation, we need to be on a journey to better health. Say no to sugar and take back your life. Get healthy for a better you!
